Phishing Sites

Postby DarklightIndigo » Sat Nov 26, 2016 11:44 am

I'm not big on this whole "laying out the ground rules" thing, so I'll leave this in brief.

Some sites are going out of their way to attempt to sabotage our userbase.
They are doing this by claiming that our main servers are having trouble (what else is new), and that you should log into "our" secondary servers by signing up with your existing TVDB credentials.

In the venerable words of Admiral Ackbar:

This is a low-tech phishing attempt by a site that is uncomfortable providing what they believe is a superior alternative to our service, and an act of desperation that basically states that they're neither ready nor responsible enough to handle a userbase of several hundred thousand individuals.

If you've fallen for this trap, please let myself or one of the other staff here know IMMEDIATELY, and we will issue you new credentials as soon as possible.

I wish I could feel enmity for these individuals, but the simple fact of the matter is that I'm more disappointed than anything else.
Strangers are just the friends we haven't met yet.
