How to add missing episodes

Postby TLPG » Mon Dec 08, 2014 3:39 am

There's a pay per view missing - WWE Global Warning on August 10, 2002. It was shown in Asia but not in the US or anywhere else so I don't know if it qualifies - although you've got the UK pay per views there which I don't think was shown in the US either. Given that because Global Warning wasn't shown in the US, TV.com won't have an ID and as it wasn't a movie IMDB is equally useless.

So how do I overcome this and add this missing WWE pay per view?

For the time being, you don't. Sporting events are currently locked, primarily due to continual edit wars between opposing takes of the outcomes. It's not a decision the moderators made; as far as the staff is concerned, we all blew it by letting such problems occur in the first place, and they're not going to clean up the mess again.

That said, two things:
1. I'm not averse to creating custom NFO files and archiving the images so that no information is lost.

2. Da Rulez:
Sports
Sports are not allowed and will not be allowed in the foreseeable future. If someone really feels like there should be a user supported database for sports I would encourage them to make it. The problem is that sports requires some very specific fields that vary considerably from our site's fields. There's some excellent sports data feeds out there, so someone would only need to use that data (after checking copyrights) and associate graphics and a proper API.

WWE/UFC
Episodic sports like these are not currently allowed, but may be allowed on the new site. If we find them on the site right now they will be deleted. Once the new site is up and running we'll take a look at our new structure and see how it'll work with these. I'd say there's an 80% chance we'll allow them. However, until that decision is made and posted, they're not allowed.

Okay I see the problem. I should tell you that someone over on Wikipedia is using your list as a source to prove that the pay per view didn't happen (and it did). But if we can't add it we can't add it I guess.

Let me know when it opens up again.

I've never seen it go that way, usually the issue is that we're not matching the Wikipedia listing...

That said, this is the Melbourne event, yeah?

Also, Vince McMahon coming to town is big enough news that I'd think Melbourne press or even the big W itself would acknowledge the event. ;)

None of those links work. 404 error on all four of them.

The issue isn't the existence of the event. The issue is whether or not it was on pay per view, either live or on delay.

Well yeah, but shouldn't at least WWE Magazine have something to say on the subject?
