I picked up the complete series of ALF (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/alf) on DVD and have been in the process of ripping and organizing the series.

The DVD ordering is different from the official airing and is already almost completely correct, but there are a few extra episodes as some episodes that originally aired as a 2-part episode are presented as 1 episode on the DVD.

For season 1 (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/alf/seasons/dvd/1), episode 23 is duplicated (and out of order) as Try to Remember (2) and Try to Remember (1).

For season 2 (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/alf/seasons/dvd/2), episode 25 is duplicated (also out of order) as ALF's Special Christmas (2) and ALF's Special Christmas (1).

For season 3 (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/alf/seasons/dvd/3), episode 6 is duplicated as Tonight, Tonight (1) and Tonight, Tonight (2).

Would it be better to try and have these episodes deleted and then edit the remaining episode information or have these episode renumbered and then they can be named as such in my library (e.g. ALF.S01E23-E24)?

Unfortunately, we need sources for this to confirm that the DVD order should be reordered. Can you provide?

I did a bit of searching before posting, but I was really only able to come up with a mention of it on Wikipedia (I know that's not exactly a trusted source) and it's reflected in the episode listings of the DVDTalk.com reviews of the season sets.

Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALF_(TV_s ... and_Canada):
Oddly, all releases contained syndicated versions, with running times of 21 minutes, compared to the original length of 24 minutes. However, the 60-minute episodes "Try to Remember" and "ALF's Special Christmas" (from season one and season two, respectively), were presented in their original hour-long formats (though "Try to Remember" was presented in its censored version and "ALF's Special Christmas" has a minor scene using the song "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" excised). The 60-minute episode "Tonight, Tonight", however, was split into two parts for syndication. The season four episode "Make 'Em Laugh" was presented in nearly its original length, with a single line of dialogue edited out.

I know something better would be preferred, but this is what I've been able to come across.

Multiple Episodes Airing Back-to-Back:

Sometimes, a show will air episodes in two parts, back-to-back. An example of this includes The Good Place. Right now, the rule is to add these episodes as separate entries, so that the number of episodes matches up with the episode order from the network.

If you think that a series should have an alternate order where the two episodes should be listed together as one, please suggest this to a moderator. Once approved, in the new site you’ll be able to add your proposed order as an alternate order in the system using the flexible season feature.

The 26 episodes in "Alf"'s first season are spread over four discs. that list menus as a special feature, the makers of "Alf" Season One could do a quick search with www.krogerfeedback.com fuel points survey

This order is different than that of the aired episodes i assume.
