Curious about this ruling> I had asked in the Moderators forum but received no response, so I'll ask here. How does this affect Featurettes that started life in theaters many moons ago? Series we have entered here like The Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Looney Tunes. There are many series here that fit the criteria of not being made as a "TV Series" in the strictest sense of s series. Not to mention the others that Glennc mentioned.
Back in 2011, I entered the Made for TV movie series, TNT Mystery Movies. I did it after asking specifically if they were allowed to be here. Here is the thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8242&p=31962#p31962
I note that Szorsi said this "Are they made specifically for that series, or are they just random collections of movies that TNT airs. Examples of random collections of movies shown under one title: Disney Afternoon, Dinner and a Movie, TGIF. Examples of movies made specifically for a series: ESPN 30 for 30. If it's random movies, then it's not allowed. If they're made for that series, then they're allowed."
With that, they were entered. At the time we still had the IMDB and TMDB so my request could have been denied. These movies, are made for TV movies and are most certainly a series as defined by a quick Google search of what comprises a series: "a set of related television or radio programs, especially of a specified kind."
I would like to suggest that the movies entered here be strictly for Theatrical released or streamed films. Let the Made for TV Movies alone.

Surely the other things to consider is what makes a series a series. I can understand the rule for one off TV movies but not for ongoing series with multiple movies.

I'm not going to mention the name of the series but it has three new weekly episodes every year for the past few years. I can't think of any film franchise anything like that.

So please; as mwkurt says please leave them alone.

Hi,

Popping in here. We have pretty thoroughly defined what a movie and a series is in the bible. Please check it out viewtopic.php?f=3&t=59152 and let me know if you have questions. TheTVDB has evolved considerably over the last few years and that is to be expected and we aren't going back. Moving forward TV movies will be allowed in the movie product only. However, we are not changing any of the historical records and won't until at the very least v4 is out. So please don't worry. We also just rolled out franchises, so linking these movies together in this new feature should be relatively easy.

Thank you for your comments.

Having read the bible it seems to lend weight to my assumption that these are parts of a series.

The bible states "A series is exactly what it sounds like — a program with a defined sequence of episodes."

If you look at the Hallmark website for these series see https://www.hallmarkmoviesandmysteries. ... vie-series

This lists 18 separate series under the global "Mystery Movie Series".

This same listing shows for each series the titles of the TV movies and original broadcast date and order.

For example; in the case of Martha's Vineyard Mysteries; the following is what Hallmark state:

Martha's Vineyard Mysteries

Riddled with Deceit: A Martha's Vineyard Mystery - Original Airdate: February 23, 2020
A Beautiful Place to Die: A Martha's Vineyard Mystery - Original Airdate: January 12, 2020

Another example is:

Hailey Dean Mysteries

Hailey Dean Mysteries: Killer Sentence - Original Airdate: May 19, 2019
Hailey Dean Mysteries: A Prescription for Murder - Original Airdate: May 12, 2019
Hailey Dean Mysteries: Death on Duty - Original Airdate: May 5, 2019
Hailey Dean Mysteries: A Will to Kill - Original Airdate: June 18, 2018
Hailey Dean Mysteries: A Marriage Made for Murder - Original Airdate: June 10, 2018
Hailey Dean Mysteries: 2 + 2 = Murder - Original Airdate: June 3, 2018
Hailey Dean Mysteries: Dating is Murder - Original Airdate: October 15, 2017
Hailey Dean Mysteries: Deadly Estate - Original Airdate: April 9, 2017
Hailey Dean Mysteries: Murder, With Love - Original Airdate: October 23, 2016

I did notice the bible says that "Made-for-TV movies should be added as movies" but surely that applies to TV movies that are not linked to anything else.

I therefore believe that these are actually series; should be retained and that Martha's Vineyard Mysteries should be allowed to return.

I was wondering if the admins of the site had any more comments on the issues I raised.

Can I reinstate Martha's Vineyard Mysteries in the meantime as it is the only Hallmark series not currently in the database?

I did raise a ticket for this item and this is what I was told:

Hi Glenn,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

I understand your frustration with this policy and how you would like to see these movies listed together as series.

Unfortunately, our decision on the matter is final. This was discussed within the team several times, and there are no plans to revisit our policy regarding these titles. Therefore, please do not add Martha's Vineyard Mysteries back into the database as a series.

You can create lists to combine these movie records, as done here:
