Looks like you deleted the wrong entry 'Cosmos: Possible Worlds (2020)' is a separate series not not season 2 - It is listed on Fox and National Geographic as different series and IMDB as well
The change was correct. IMDB is never a reliable source, and networks change the way things are displayed on their websites all the time. For this reason, the wise people who administer TheTVDB have established a set of rules governing how series get listed. You can get a good sense of the rules that apply by reading the entire thread before positing to it. You should also review the full rules for adding series, which will help you understand how to best contribute to the site.

Cheers.

So you are also disagreeing with TV Guide and Wikipedia? There is ample evidence that this is a new SERIES. Like the Name, New Logo, New Website Pages....

But if your logic is to be applied, then it should be applied universally and the first/original 'season' of Cosmos should be grouped with 'Cosmos: Possible Worlds' and 'Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey' or else you are making arbitrary distinctions since here (on the trailer) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghZ5gsr6MAk National Geographic specifically states Cosmos: Possible Worlds is Season 3

Either way - The listing is wrong.

At this point it doesn't much matter which is picked but rather that one is picked.

This back and forth is pointless as it leaves us with two entries in the database.
Given that season tend not to come with their own titles i say its a second series but i be happy with either choice.

Based on the rules, shouldn't official websites be the preferred primary source?

Since Cosmos Possible worlds (https://www.nationalgeographic.com/tv/s ... ble-worlds), Cosmos a space time odyssey (http://natgeotv.com/ca/cosmos-a-spacetime-odyssey), and cosmos have separate (or non-existent) official websites, it seams this is a capricious decision, to lump A Spacetime Odyssey and Possible Worlds into the same series, when all other information source organize them as standalone series (imdb, wikipedia).

I too would like the Possible Worlds not added as Season 2 to the 2014 A space time Odyssey I spent hours adding the Possible Worlds (2020) and moving the Season 2 to unseasoned, please remove it as Possible Worlds is a sequep searies not a Season 2

I have added it back as a seperate series under Series ID 379408

According to IMDb, it is its own series.

From my reading on the official webpage on FOX, it should be season 3 of COSMOS, with "A Space Time Odyssey" being season 2 and the original with Carl Sagan being season 1.

these are waaay too far apart and should not be considered seperate seasons

I am sad to see my creation of Possible Worlds removed with no reason or explanation and the Season 2 of the 2014 one reinstated again with no name to the edit but mine

here is my take to keep them seperate:

Title
Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey

Title
Cosmos: Possible Worlds

they are very much like as mentioned shows: 24 and 24:Legacy

I whole heartedly agree, even the "scene" is classing episodes from Possible Worlds as Season 1

They are shows by the same network, with the same cast, the same producer, the same subject matter, etc. It makes no sense at all to split them up. By that logic every show that ever put a subtitle under their season number needs to be split up into separate shows and that really isn't necessary.

I don't get the argumentativeness though. It really doesn't matter if it's one show or two. Just pick one and be done with it. People swapping them around al the time is what's causing all the problems with software, not whether TVDB decides to make it a season or a separate show in the first place.
