The Daily Show Episodes Off By One Since New Year

Postby BananaCakes » Fri Jan 25, 2019 1:03 am

The Daily Show (with Trevor Noah) episodes have been off-by-one for a couple of weeks.

See the current episode URL:
http://www.cc.com/episodes/5mz37w/the-d ... 4-ep-24051

Episode numbering is at the end of the URL "ep-24051" - season 24, episode 51 date January 24. But the database here has episode 51 as January 28.

The discontinuity seems to have started with s24e40 which was the first new episode of calendar year 2019. There was no s24e39, or if there was, comedy central never aired it.

Here's the URL for s24e40 dated january 7
http://www.cc.com/episodes/wq3d38/the-d ... 4-ep-24040

But the database has it listed as s24e39.

Ok, nobody has responded to this. I'm about to go into the db and fix it myself, which looks like it will be a lot of manual work. But the more time that goes by the more work its going to be to correct. Plz let me know if there is any reason I shouldn't go fix this myself. Last thing I want is to be accused of vandalism.

There's nothing wrong there. They had a snow day and discarded one production number on that day. That doesn't change the episode numbering here, just like when it happened in previous years. The official numbering is put into the production code value (just like prior years).

To be exact, they left out the show on Thursday, December 20th (#24039), and continued on Monday, January 7th with their 39th show of the season, which they numbered 24040.

When the question was asked in years prior if we should leave a number empty to match the show's numbering, the answer was that the site does not leave a gap in the episode numbering.
