All the "best of"/"unseen bits" episodes have been listed as specials, but they're just regular episodes according to the program's official episode guide at the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007r3n8/episodes/guide

The effect is particularly bad in Season 7, where Episode 10 has been renumbered as Episode 9 to close the gap caused by listing Episode 9 as a special.

I'm pretty sure the BBC episode guides don't really allow for 'special' episodes, so I'm not surprised that they list them as regular episodes.
Feel free to prove me wrong.

If the BBC isn't a trusted source for BBC programs  , how about TVRage?

Also, the current situation is inconsistent with the handling of other BBC shows like Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, etc, where clip shows and Christmas episodes are not considered "specials".

Careful, the last time someone tried the "But look, these other series have XXXXX" trick, QI XL and a whole bunch of other shows got deleted.

At the end of the day, the episodes are all present, with correct dates and correct 'airs after'.
My belief is that these qualify as special episodes and thus belong in specials.

If you want to get another mod to overrule me, and carefully move each episode into their respective seasons, go for it.
It's way too petty a justification for me to bother with this, really.

Relax, have a New Year's beer, watch some WILTY
