Disney Animated Shorts (78988)

Postby kuc1n9 » Tue Jan 03, 2017 7:36 pm

Hi,

Disney Animated Shorts - Special is locked.

I think it would be great if some below shorts that appears in Disney's theater/Blu-Ray is added to the specials
Day & Night: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Day_%26_Night
La Luna: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/La_Luna
The Legend of Mordu: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Mor%27du
The Blue Umbrella: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/The_Blue_Umbrella
Party Central: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Party_Central
Lava: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Lava
Riley's First Date: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Riley%27s_First_Date%3F
Sanjay's Super Team: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Sanjay%27s_Super_Team
Piper: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Piper

It's kinda mix between Disney/Pixar but should still related to Disney's Shorts

Hello,
We have a listing here for the Pixar short films, http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=81251&lid=7 , these should probably go there, in fact "Day and Night" is already there.
Technically, DVD/BluRay extras are not permitted in the database unless they have appeared on television somewhere. Have these been televised?

These haven't been televised, but they have been released on the web, and they are all related to the same franchise. I feel like this is one of those rare cases where an exception could be allowed.

I just bought the Blu Rays of these, and I would like to organise them all on my Plex server my simply adding a TVdb link, rather than adding exhaustive custom metadata files. I know that you guys like to keep an entirely pure database, and you all love to say "no" citing some arbitrary rule or another, but this "show" was allowed to exist on this site, and these are all official releases of this show, which ran in the pre-roll before a movie in most cases, and are listed by their movie's air date, rather than their televised date. Additionally, if this is an issue, I challenge you to find a list of evidence supporting the televised dates listed.

Alternatively, why not just give the people what they want? Can this be unlocked for others to add to it?

Sorry if I sound terse, I just know that it takes FOREVER to get anything done on this website. Its a discussion forum for the legalese of the site rules most of the time, where most people just want it to be a database of TV in a convenient location.

That's kinda the point though, it's meant to be a database of TV first and foremost, and all of these shorts fall well short of that mark (not even managing to be original web series, but - when they do appear online - they're re-rips or theatre cam bootlegs).

That said, keeping a legacy entry like this locked when there are valid updates to it is short-sighted, at best.

So the choice is either to allow updates to it, or delete it entirely, because an incomplete database is not a lot of use.

As regards whether this should be on the Tvdb, I don't really know but it's probably the best place for it, as we don't have an "animated shorts and DVD extras db".

I unlocked Specials before I went to sleep, I just couldn't confirm after the gateway timeout.

I have a question in relation to this series of shorts, I noticed both the Volume 1 and the newer Volume 2 of the DVD releases are over on TMDB, but this does really lend itself to being in a movie format due to the episodic nature of the shorts.

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/288767 ... n-volume-1
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/303659 ... n-volume-2

I notice that some of the Volume 2 shorts have been added as specials but they are not really specials at all.

Should the second volume be added as a second season? or does it warrant its own full release on TVDB with the first being renamed in line?

I am new here so please forgive me if I am not completely up to scratch with the rules around how this kind of release should be handled

I think that officially the rules here state that anything that has never been televised or released officially alongside a TV show (so web clips from the offical source are OK, but DVD extras aren't for some reason) are not allowed, so I'm not sure that most of these are allowed, as they have only. Appeared alongside theatrical releases, or on DVDs.

Having said all of that, I think it would be very useful to have such a centralised and respected database such as Tvdb to retain them, but in terms of organisation, I personally would probably go with the same format that Wikipedia have used, in that season one is original releases, season two is for feature - related releases, and both of them organised by date.

I have forced my own media library to use this format and to ignore the Tvdb listings, as they are partial, and I can post the full list with sources if needed.

ummmm... the Pixar Shorts from volume one have aired on tv...It was on ABC Family's 25 days of Christmas. Have to double check the dates but all the shorts aired then... does that mean add them to the Disney Animated Shorts Column or ....?
