Series 1 DVD order change request

DVD order is not entered, it is the same order as the Aired order however. This is just to make the Grand Designs entries complete (a 12 page thread highlights the amount of confusion). Evidence is here: http://www.play.com/LargerImages.html?r ... tid=489324.

DVD Season #, DVD Episode # , Episode Name
1, 1.0, Newhaven: The Timber Frame Kit House
1, 2.0, Berkshire: English Barn
1, 3.0, Brighton: The Co-Operative Build
1, 4.0, Amersham: The Water Tower
1, 5.0, Suffolk: The Eco-House
1, 6.0, Cornwall: The Chapel
1, 7.0, Islington: The House of Straw
1, 8.0, Doncaster: The Glass House

Thanks

Ok, specials have been moved for now according to the existing setup, and DVD order above has been added to season 1.

I've just taken another look at the C4 site and they've moved things around again...
Unfortunately personal issues are stopping me from spending much time on here so may not be as quick as I'd like. I'm also aware that the current ordering (decided before I was a mod) is a bit contentious so if any of the other mods want to overrule me on the order, I've no issues there.

Thanks etw. One thing I noticed when I checked your good work was this:

The Specials episode "Revisited - Sunderland: The Former Electricity Sub-Station" (http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=episod ... &id=599171) was first broadcast as a Grand Designs Indoors episode - surely it belongs as a Special there?

Grand Designs Indooors list - http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=82412

I quickly checked all the episode names of Grand Designs (http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=79264&lid=7) for anything similar, this is the only occurrence of this.

Has anyone ever contacted the Producer Talkback Thames or Distributor Fremantle Media for their view on the episodes list?

Thanks,
Wiz

I've just bought DVD seasons 8-11 for my wife and noticed the DVD order has not been added to those episodes yet. (DVD Season 8 is mostly from episodes of aired Season 10).

Any chance I could update them myself since they have been locked?

Just another request to reorder these based on the air date. The current system is mad and not even consistent with itself. "Revisited" episodes from seasons 14 and 16 are already in aired order, but earlier revisited episodes have been shoehorned into the seasons where the original episode was shown.

Take season 3 for example... I fail to see how adding episodes broadcast 5 or 6 years later to it is helping anyone.

Has someone custom ordered these to suit their needs? That should be done on a local client, not on a global database.

The ordering is insanely out of whack.

I agree. I have no idea what kind of order these are in, but it certainly doesn't match what I'm finding on cbc.ca. Although cbc is not the authoritative source, it should certainly be closer than it is.

Just thought I would bump this thread as I was going through this series adding imdb ids to all episodes and noticed the order was different to wikipedia and other sites that list them in air date order.

As mentioned above from season 14 onwards the revisited episodes are included in the season they were aired. For all seasons before that the revisited episodes are placed in the season the original episode for that house is in.

Also, revisited episodes that were aired as part of 'grand designs' but where the original episode aired in 'grand designs abroad' or 'grand designs indoors' are listed as specials on tvdb in those series except for S14E08.

A decision needs to be made on which method of ordering is to be followed and then all seasons made consistent.

Like aussie_hundo I'd also like to bump this thread for the same reasons.

Can I propose that we now follow what we now implement the idea that etw proposed back in 2012?

I'm going to ensure that we have both the current listing and the one a lot of people will want on the new site (no ETA) as it will allow multiple listing orders.
I am more than happy to organise both the "Official Order" - which I think should be structured as the shows were originally broadcast (and would therefore match Seasons 14-20 in the current "Official Order") - and a new "Alternate Order", which would follow the convention currently implemented in Seasons 1-12 by etw; namely the 'Revisited' episodes appended to the season during which the original episode was broadcast.

Hi everyone
I'm sorry I made a post yesterday about Grand Designs and didn't check to see if there were any ongoing discussions.
I'm interested in cleaning up the database concerning the "Official Order" ie the order the show was aired in on Channel4 in the UK. To that extend Channel4.com is an excellent reference.
I have made a big spreadsheet with 5 different sources, to compare. I believe I have the most correct order figured out, you can check my work, as it is all available in the spreadsheet.

I'm new to this site but i'm using Infuse on an AppleTV which uses The TVDB, which is why i'm interested in doing my bit. I'm happy to do the work of typing in the order that I have come up with - but how? And who can authorize me to do so?

Let's get this thing sorted!
