Disney Animated Shorts - Missing Episodes

Postby newoski » Wed Oct 23, 2013 2:11 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm updating all my files to match the new Disney Animated Shorts series and I just noticed that there are a lot of episodes missing:

1. I'm No Fool shorts featuring Jiminy Cricket
2. Lot's of wartime shorts like "Food Will Win the War"
3. Very early Walt Disney created shorts like "Cleaning Up"

I appreciate that there is a standardized approach to handling content on TheTVDB, but could someone explain to me why this content is being excluded and where it should correctly be listed, if not here?

Thanks very much.

There was a database entry for these types of Disney shorts called "Disney educational shorts". It seems to have been deleted for some reason. So it wasn't excluded, it has just been deleted fairly recently.

Sorry,
Mark

I saw that. So what is the next step?

To recreate that database entry, or add them to Disney Animated Shorts?

Wouldn't it be smarter, and more logical, to include all shorts together?

Why are we creating a subset of education specific shorts?

Thanks again.

I don't know. Frankly, as far as I am concerned, you can do either.

Is there a specific person working on this series, or is it community driven?

I know that there was a lot of restrictions on the Disney Shorts, previously, before they were moved to a year based system...

Just trying to play by the rules...

Also,

It looks like the order has been slightly changed since the last series.

What is the reference being used for air date/order, so I can make sure I keep things consistent?

I'm really looking to knock this one out of the park and get everything added!

Thanks,

Owen

I was the one who kind of worked on the Disney shorts to get them all put in one listing from the various entries we had, though no one person here is in charge of any particular series, I don't think.

The sources used when I worked it were: http://www.disneyshorts.org/ and http://www.bcdb.com/

What do you men by this? "It looks like the order has been slightly changed since the last series."

So whenever you care to enter the now missing entries, let us know and we can unlock it for you.

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delayed reply -- and thanks so much for the hard work you've put in so far!

When I said that the order is slightly changed compared to the original TVDB listing, I just meant that the order of a few episodes is slightly different. Most cases involved 2 back to back episodes flipping order, though there were a few larger changes that I can't recall. I think all of this is fine, as long as we are using a consistent standard going forward -- which is why I was asking where you sourced the dates/order. I wanted to make sure I continue using that methodology. I will plan to use DisneyShorts.org and BCDB.com for any additions.

Questions before I get started:

1. Premiere Date
The current series start date is 1922, however, Walt created some Laugh-O-Grams for Newman in 1921. I'd like to add them. Should I update the series start date to 1921?

2. Specials vs Seasons
It looks like you added some Wartime/Educational shorts as Season episodes and some as Specials. I would like to make sure we use some kind of consistency. How would you prefer I add them? Do I have your permission to correct the existing entries?

That said, I'm ready to get started ASAP. Please unlock the series for me.

Thanks again,

Owen

Hi,

Could you please unlock s1922 as well?

I need to add Tommy Tucker's Tooth as the final episode of the season.

Should I send you a list of all the edits/additions I plan to make, prior to doing so?

Or would you be comfortable unlocking everything for me?

THanks,

Hi Mark,

Still hoping you can unlock the rest of this series so I can continue to add missing episodes...

Thanks,

Owen
