Does TVDB have a stance/policy on smart quotes vs "regular" quotes? (as in, the "left" and "right" single and double quotes that word processors introduce?) Some things/apps have trouble with smart quotes cause they aren't standard ASCII, but I know they come through a lot when people copy and paste from other sources.

Should we always opt for the "straight" quotes? Is it worth a mechanism to force that? Should we correct them when we see them?

Or do we just leave it be? If so, there's variations across the board where some have smart quotes and some have straight quotes.

Just curious. I was going through fixing some here and there, but didn't want to against something TVDB had decided on.

Let us look into this. We don't have a policy on it, but it is likely worth developing one considering special characters can be a little tricky with some apps.
