web site redesign - DVD and Absolute order

Postby OttoKerner » Mon Jul 02, 2018 9:20 am

Since the website redesign, I cannot see any entries under
'DVD Season & Episode Number' and 'Absolute Episode Number'
even on episodes where I am sure they had it before.
(e.g. 'Firefly' https://www.thetvdb.com/series/firefly/episodes/297989 )

Is this intended?

This is not intended, and editing individual episodes should show these numbers when they were previously entered.

This is why I'd like to see planned milestones, because viewing these fields directly is sort of a big deal that feels like it shouldn't take more effort expended to display than any other.

There isn't one, the alternate orders simply aren't viewable from the episode listings at the moment. They're still present, and editable on unlocked series.

?

First off, that's a redirect to TMdb, which we do not control.
Secondly, which series did you have in mind?

Aired Order still works, and again, DVD and Absolute Order are present and usable on series that had them before the changeover. These may be viewed by editing individual episodes for the time being, or a moderator can check that they're entered for locked series.

Right now no series in particular.

But you say "aired order still works" does that mean that dvd order is the one that is in use everywhere in general?
Otherwise how do I know which order is in use when I view any series and how do I change between the orders?
On the old web page this was very clear and easy to do.

It means exactly what I said.

Aired Order works and is the default viewing order on the site.

DVD and Absolute Orders may be edited on the new site, and may be used by third-party programmes (such as Plex), they simply are not directly viewable on the site and require some work to find at the moment.

This is a point of continued frustration, as it would seem this would be easy to fix.

May I chime in here to say that the absolute number is also not being transferred via the API. That is for episodes which were created via the new v2 site. (Example: https://www.thetvdb.com/series/scene-of ... es/6746009).

The "absolute number missing via api" thingy seems to be fixed
