Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life should be listed as Specials under Gilmore Girls per this post

Specifically:
CONTINUATIONS/REVIVALS (Same series record on TVDB)
24 -- however, 24: Legacy (sans Jack Bauer) is its own series

As the post linked is part of the Official TheTVDB Bible, it doesn't make sense that there are two entries for this one show.

That is an old post - and the Bible changed since then. If you look at the updated version in the knowledge base (a reminder that the forums will be read-only very soon) - you will see that 'A Year in the Life' is specifically called out as being its own series -- not a part of Gilmore Girls.
