I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I've been trying for a week now to get my Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood episodes to match correctly in plex.

Plex uses theTVDB to match tv episodes, which works great for almost all shows. The challenge I'm running into is that Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood airs in 2 episode segments. From what I understand, someone went through Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and set it so that the DVD order sorting identifies the episodes in the way that they aired, based on the following thread:

In theory, this means that I should be able to use the DVD ordering for Plex and it should label them using the combination of dual-aired episodes to create the episode name and description. Unfortunately this does not seem to work.

I've tried doing the same thing using tinymediamanager and it does the exact same thing as plex.

Is there anyone out there that has successfully got this show to match for the aired episodes? I'd rather not have to go through and split these files individually, to align to the episodes in theTVDB.

Thanks for any help and if this isn't the right place to ask for this help, sorry.

There was another topic that discussed this as well. I created this topic, without understanding theTVDB policy on shows like this. There was however some good discussion on this topic as well.

I'm not trying to change things or break the rules, I just want to figure out how to get this show to work.

Thanks for the help.

If you do the Plex naming as S01E01-E02-Title.ext it will list the same episode file twice with the metadata from each listed episode on TVDB separately. However clicking either thumbnail will play the episode in its entirety from the start. ... les/#toc-4

I unfortunately have no more details at this time regarding the situation.

Splitting is relatively easy with MKVToolnix (You can follow their linked guide) and should not irreversibly change the input file so you can safely experiment with it. If the files include appropriately set chapters, you can split right at the chapter dividing the two parts exactly and every time. If not, you can use time codes.
It features job queuing so you can set up all the splits and then run the program once.

Thanks mistywing. I was hoping to avoid either splitting or having them dual-listed.

Though I may not be excited with the answer, thank you for the direct and compete answer.
