Plex Returning Incorrect TV Show

Postby benltan » Sun Apr 21, 2019 7:21 pm

Hi All

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on what is going wrong here.

I use Plex to manage my video library and I'm trying to get the TV Show info for Detective Conan:
ID: 72454

Plex cannot find this and only brings up another name: Case Closed, even when I use the ID to search.

However, when I look for 'Case Closed' by name in TVDB, it brings back an empty show with nothing in it with a completely different ID:
ID: 354126

I don't think this is a Plex issue as other TV shows are fine.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Many thanks in advance.

I tried with a dummy mkv in the following folder structure:

X: \ LibraryName \ Detective Conan \ Season 1 \ S01E01.mkv

and it seemed to pick up the correct data.
Following that, searching for 'Detective Conan' and including the year 1996 also returns the correct data.

However the ID 354126 is a duplicate and obviously incomplete entry. I suspect it is conflicting with the alias 'Case Closed' of 72454. I have removed it, but due to Plex caching TVDB data, it may take a while before the proper search function is restored.

Many thanks for your response.

On the advice of someone else, I selected the Auto Match option via TVDb and it ended up pulling through the correct metadata, which is weird considering it could not find the show based on a manual search.

Anyway, all seems to be well now, so thank you for your assistance. Much appreciated!
