hello

Postby hmchristensen » Fri Nov 16, 2018 11:02 pm

I'm new to this site, found it from Plex. I'm trying to add a mini series in my tv folder, it keeps telling me "no content" when I select scan library files. I went onto the Plex forum for this and was told to follow the naming pattern outlined here but I cannot find it. Please help a noob out!

Search for the series on the site and number your episodes to match one of the three orders provided: aired (default and primary method), absolute or DVD.
Your folder structure, if you use the aired order, should also match the seasons here. Obviously the root folder should have the same series title.

/SeriesTitle
__/Season 1
_____S01E01
_____S01E02
__/Season 2

I have tried going to the page with the show, looked at it, opened it up and only see the show to watch and no folder structure. I feel like I'm losing my mind! I just keep going in loops.

All right, you need to see this layout on the site.
Inside of the table on the right, there is the list with Seasons. Specials, Season 1, 2, etc. Stranger Things has Specials, Season 1 and Season 2 for example.
Inside of each season there are the episodes listed with the aired order number next to them, from 1 to however many there are. Here is Stranger Things season 1 for example.

Your files on your system need to match this order and grouping by seasons to be recognized by Plex.

If it was Stranger Things and you had all of the episodes including the specials, you would need to name folders and files at the most minimum like the following:

/Stranger Things
__/Season 1
____S01E01
____...
____S01E08
__/Season 2
____S02E01
____...
____S02E09
__/Specials
____S00E01
____...
____S00E07

Thank you for being so patient with me! I have done this as directed above and I'm still getting the "no content" message when I scan the library files. I'm about ready to resign this effort! Also I'm confused on the layout of this site. When I clicked your hyperlink, it only gives me the series to watch, hyperlinks, etc. I do not see the layout for naming. Am I missing something, or am I dense? (I hope I'm not dense!!)

This is not a site for watching the series in question, merely a hopefully accurate historical catalogue of the episodes and seasons of a series that other applications and programs can use as a database to populate the information they provide to their users.

If you've not done it yet, the fanart (a large image) is displayed at the top of the page. You can hide it by clicking an eye icon in the top right corner of the image (it's highlighted in blue).

This should bring the controls up to the top (if you are logged in) with the seasons access below them. If you're not logged in, it will look something like this.

Clicking on those Season links will show you the episodes per season.

You should match your list of media files to the list the site presents to you for your series.

The issue may have to do with your Plex configuration too.
If this is the first time you are using it, make sure you have actually added the folder containing the media to a media library you create in Plex.

I know you are using Plex, but have a read of the Kodi Video Library Creation guide which will help explain what is required to populate your library with information and artwork
