Re: API v2 showstoppers

(1) Good to know.

(2) No worries, I can always check the previous known last page, so extra wasteful requests will be limited to the first time around and the rare times when a new page is added later on.

Re: API v2 showstoppers

Thanks! Translation handling was my primary concern and I'm happy to hear that this challenge is being tackled. :) The forums don't let me edit old posts, but I've come around on the idea of pages, assuming that they're sorted by episode id, so that the information on page 1..n-1 effectively never c...

Re: API v2 showstoppers

A related issue that I would consider to be quite critical, is that search only works in the given language. e.g. this works with Accept-Language: en but does not with Accept-Language: de because German data has not been added yet: https://api.thetvdb.com/search/series?name=Wonderfalls I would expec...

Re: API v2 showstoppers

To clarify, when I say English I mean default value that isn't null . If I request data in German that is only available in Spanish, then I would prefer the Spanish non-null value. I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement this kind of default behaviour. But for applications on the client-side ...

Re: API v2 showstoppers

As far as languages are concerned, these will still be user-selected, as indeed they've always been (it's immaterial whether an application uses lid=7 or lang=en-US as a default, which is what is being proposed here). Support for multiple Accept-Language (even if it's limited to preferred language ...

Re: API v2 showstoppers

The lack of default language support is definitely a showstopper for me. Using pages for episode lists may or may not make sense to me depending on how it's implemented, and if it does indeed help with scalability, then I don't mind a few extra requests here and there. 2. I can see how lots of small...

Re: API v2 showstoppers

1. If you want to default to English just set your program to default to English, all requests should be sent with a language. What if I request German information when only English information is available? There's no extra requests needed, simply indicate what language you want and it returns that...

API v2 showstoppers

Since we now have a Sunset Date for APIv1 , it's time to have a look at APIv2 and see how well it replaces existing APIv1 functionality. I've implemented APIv2 last year, but since it was inferior in key aspects, I still kept using APIv1. I've reported these issues but so far they have not been addr...
