Hello,
I noticed a weird thing when you want to see all the video where you can see an actor with the program XBMC. I will try to explain, Excuse me for my poor english
For example, there is a actor who was in Battlestar Galactica and Dollhouse, Tahmoh Penikett. In XBMC, if I want to see all his appearances, I will see

Code:
[TVShow] Battlestar Galactica (2003)
[TVShow] Dollhouse
[Episode]....
[Episode]....
[Episode]....
[Episode]....

and for [Episode], all the episodes of Battlestar Galactica (112!!!), but not those of Dollhouse which is more convenient.
I think there is a difference on how the actors were presented for these two TVShows, but I can figure it.

Do you know why there is a difference of presentation and if it can be changed ?

Thank you in advance :)

Hmm, I'm not actually sure what XBMC does to determine wether to show an Actor in individual episodes as opposed to a TV Series as a whole. I was going to suggest it utelises the "Guest Stars" field we have, but I'm not so sure it does.

Maybe someone else with a bit more knowledge on this could help? Alternatively, it might be worth asking this question over on the XBMC forums too.

The actor I choose is a lead actor in both shows, and is not in the guest stars line. That's why I couldn't understand why a difference appears.

Indeed, I'm not sure why either. I'm not sure if XBMCs database simply links "main" actors to every episode of a series, or does something a bit more clever. That's why I suggested maybe posting there too.

I did a quick google for some more information on it but couldn't find a lot.

If XBMC does it like that, why it doesn't act the same way with Dollhouse episodes ? if there is a difference, I think it's more due to the infos themselves than the way the program organizes them.

That's what I don't know either :P I don't see any per-episode field that could define a main actor so XBMC should either be getting that info from the main series entry (in which case, I don't know why it'd do it for Dollhouse but not BSG), or possibly gets it from another source.

By main actor, I mean actors you see at the end on the mainpage of the serie, below fan arts & posters. They define as actor playing in the TVshow so normally, XBMC indicates that they play in the TVshow by
Code:
[TVShow] name

but for an odd reason, for some TV shows it also add all episodes. The name I has chosen is an exemple, but the phenomenon is the same with all actors indicated for "Battlestar Galactica", because he has a TVshow with a normal presentation and one which is not.

And no for the other sources, I just use TVDB. :)

By searching more examples, I find another strange thing. With the TVshow Community, this phenomenon appears only with 5 episodes.
So If I look the "filmography" of an actor, i will see

Code:
[TVShow]Community

[Episode]Football, Feminism and You (Community)
[Episode]Introduction to Film (Community)
[Episode]Introduction to statistics (Community)
[Episode]Pilot (Community)
[Episode]Social Psychology (Community)[/code]

I search if there is a significative difference between them and the others but nothing comes to my mind.

I will ask in XBMC forums if they have an idea.
Thank you for your help ;)

Let us know what they say. I'd be interested to know the answer to this too :)
