These are my first attempts at posters for this site. The TV show in question doesn't have a lot of images available for it so I've modified the original. Now according to the wiki these should be ok but I thought I would check. Any feedback too is appreciated.

I take it there aren't many images available for this series? One thing you could do would be to replace the bottom image on each one, if there are limited images. A google search reveals a few small ones, but enough to change a small portion. Images such as Image would be a good substitution. The easiest way to do this would be to erase the bottom image, using a large soft brush, making sure you have a clear layer below. (see image 1) I also duplicated the image, so I could ensure the blade stayed sharp. The top layer consists of pretty much only the blade.
After this, I simply copied in the other image below. I had to clone some sky in order to make it fit properly. (image 2) You'd then add your font.
It's a very quick way of ensuring some variation, and as the image only needs to be (high quality) about 400x300 it's easy enough to find some.
I like the celtic font, as well as the placement and transparency.
As for the colour grading, it would work better if the whole image was graded - having the logo ungraded makes it look a little strange. I suppose you are aiming for an old photograph sort of look, right?
So have a go substituting images, and see what happens. If you wanted to substitute the top one, you could also do a search for the BBC logo, and then add that on top to keep it all looking the same.
Sorry if this all sounded a little patronising! Good luck with the images, post them up when you've had a pop!

I had never considered I'd need smaller images for season posters. It turns out there are quite a few suitable images in this size. Here are my revised attempts. Images are from the appropriate season. I had a harder time of limiting it to one picture of Neil on the second cover. The smaller image of him in a group I think isn't too bad a compromise. Any feedback?

Yeh that's looking better!
If you are having trouble finding pictures without Neil on, have you thought about googling the landmarks themselves? I'm sure a search of Stonehenge for example will trawl up a whole bunch of images that could be suitable. Just keep a note of the site you got it from, the new TVDB website will probably allow you to say where images were taken from. (but don't watermark the image, obviously!)

The other thing is maybe to have a bit more of the purple centre - it's been cropped a lot, so it now seems like a weird thin slice in the centre. Open up another layer and have a slower gradient reaching outwards. The images I psed up abvove have a gradient almost as long as the sword. This should help hide the seams a little better, and make it seem a little less piecemeal.

I'm not so keen on the bottom image for season two - the green seems to clash a bit, and the focus is a little off.
Otherwise though, looking good!

Extended purple band as you said (however I had a bugger of a job trying to get it looking right) and new landmark. I do agree with the focus comment on the other image. Revised season number size for he off the page look I was going for originally. C+C as always is welcome as I'm not Photoshop guru.
