It would be great if a future update could include a third set of season and episode numbering. Then you could have the tv numbering, the dvd numbering and the "scene/alternative" numbering. I think it will help out all the different needs and help fix some of your moderation headaches. perhaps the fields could also auto-populate when there is no deviation.

This is already under consideration as part of the new site (no ETA); viewtopic.php?p=32123#p32123 which includes:

Since there seems to be an influx of whining about series orders lately (thanks Terra Nova), I figured I might as well post about this. Development of the new site continues, but I've made a couple of key decisions and at least partially implemented them. I've also spoken with a couple of key API developers so they know what's coming. Most of you know that the new site will have additional flexibility for our season orders. Now, nothing is completely nailed down yet, so any of this may change and anyone planning on whining about it at some point can direct their complaints to hikaricore (expect a "honey badger" response).

In a nutshell we'll be adding a "Popular" order in addition to the air date (will be referred to as "Official"), absolute, and DVD orders. We also have the code in place where we can easily add additional order types, like director's preferred, unsplit storyline (possibly for cartoons like Phineas and Ferb, where we currently split two part episodes) etc. Each series will require a mod to enable alternate order types beyond official, DVD, and absolute. The "Popular" order will be used in instances where there is a very strong demand for an order that varies from the official listing (hello again, Terra Nova). People will still have to post a valid reason for requiring an alternate order to be enabled. The exact rules for this will be determined at a later date.

(Highlighting is my emphasis not szsori's, just to remind people that things may change and features added/removed until the new site is complete)

The new site that's been coming for years? I see a new api coming so it's a good time to work this in now even if the site can't be updated easily to accomidate it's entry.

There will be no further work on the existing site aside from major security fixes. Sorry, just deal with it.

Also, the new API won't work with the old site. We'll simply be replicating the old API on the new site alongside the new API, once we move over.

And thanks for the snarkiness... it helps me remember to avoid your requests in the future. :)

Work on it or don't. I'm just making some suggestions.

I can get not wanting to work on the old site, but the new site almost seems vaporware at the moment.

You're also being rude. The new site is real and it is coming. It will take as long as it takes.

It would take even longer if you had your way and szsori wasted his time on stuff like this when there's a good chance it will be on the new site.

I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful and don't really feel I have been. I'll take it as a sensitive subject and apologize here.
