We have decided that Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra will be split into 2 separate series.

This decision has been made following much internal discussion, as well as examination of official and trusted sources on the matter. When the series was first announced and for a long time after, it was still unclear as to weather the series could be considered a spin-off or a mere sequel. To be honest even now it's not a 100% clear cut case but an exception will be made here.

The Last Airbender will be series-locked for a week or two to make sure nobody accidentally re-adds the Korra episodes there.

One final thing I'd like to make clear is that this decision was not made because people made 10,000 threads about it. We did feel in this case that there was sufficient information to back splitting the series. If there hadn't been, people could have made 100,000 more and it wouldn't have changed anything. As has been proven in the past with other controversial series, just because a large number of people (or sometimes, a very vocal minority) think we should do something, doesn't mean we will. We first and foremost strive to be an accurate database of TV Series. Not a Scene file index. Not your favorite cartoon/TV series fan site.

Thank you and Goodnight.

Also, I'd like to state for the record: Bear Curry.

Nice to see this change is being made. The fact is that information posted on the internet even in official capacity can still be done so incorrectly as it is still people entering the information being posted even if it is on a networks very own website. How things originally aired or how episodes were titled doesn't always carry over to the official listings on a networks website so hopefully the mods and powers that be at this site will keep that in mind. It is especially true in cases where a show is canceled, the information posted even on an official site may not be correct or true to how the show actually aired or was titled when it first aired. Since video on demand and the ability to post entire shows as an archive is an option for networks, it doesn't mean they are going to follow how the show originally aired either, as seen in some cases on this site where the official listing taken now in the database is based on how the episodes are ordered and titled on the official site under the on demand/watch now/archived episodes area, again this is especially true in cases where a show is canceled. Obviously a lot of time is not going to be spent putting the episodes up in the proper originally aired structure.

This seems to be where most of the conflicts between what thetvdb has here and what users try and change, at least this is the case in almost all of the discrepancies I have between my shows and the listings here.

...Kerviel definitely doesn't.
So - thanks a bunch for that assertion, Kerviel.

Let me apologize for the way that misread. If I could edit I would correct that sentence to clarify what I meant there. Here is how it should have read.

Obviously a lot of time is not going to be spent (by the networks) putting the episodes up in the proper originally aired structure. When it comes to expired or defunct series.

I can see now how that could be read by mods and people who spend time inputting the information into thetvdb as being directed at them but I most certainly did not mean it that way, I meant the networks.
