This is not the first time [as] has been nominated as a Network, I know, but if the prevailing wisdom is that [as] isn't I have an alternative:
Create a BRAND sub-Category to NETWORKSince channel-sharing and network-splits are status quo, both on-air and online, I propose we create a Network sub-category entitled BRAND.
It'd be an optional field that'd include accepted network brands like [adult swim] and Nick at Nite (for example).
I believe our community unfortunately missed the mark when previously discussing how to deal with [adult swim] as a network [
http://forums.thetvdb.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1320&hilit=adult+swim] even though EmuZombie's logic was correct as of last year [
http://forums.thetvdb.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10132&hilit=adult+swim]. All that's achieved thus far is confusion* and poor/inaccurate metadata creation. If TVRage believes [adult swim] is a bona fide Network [
http://www.tvrage.com/networks/US/AdultSwim] why disagree?
We should've deferred to Broadcast's time-tested litmus test, The Nielsen Media Research Ratings System. As it was said back in 2005, it's either kids or adults... not both [

IMHO: Some of Broadcasts' decision are relevant to us as well and some some be accepted without much ado

* [adult swim] hasn't created much if you currently ask TVdb
