Not really sure how to put this without sounding like a whiny pussy (i probably already will)
I while back I spent a while enlarging and editing a picture for Beavis and Butthead. This involved stripping the logo from a broadcast episode, cleaning it up and applying it to an image that I painstakingly edited to fit regulations. (through cloning, painting, adding feet etc...)

Somebody has stripped the text from it and reuploaded it as their own, a 30 second job. If they had requested I remove the text, I probably would have.
Does it sound like i'm being an asshole if I request it be deleted, and then I was to upload the original without text?

You're welcome to upload one without text as well as one with text tbh, it happens all the time. As for your original concern you handled it well in this post. Sometimes people steal work that can't be helped, but posting about it calmly instead of flipping out (I'll leave the contents of that user's original post before he edited it up to your imagination based on the tone of our replies) is perfectly acceptable. I can't always promise we'll do anything about it, but that's another matter entirely. :p

Yeh I figured this sort of thing might not always be dealt with, and that's cool - there are much more important things for mods to be dealing with! Appreciate the help here though.
I'm glad it came across as being somewhat calm, I always get paranoid about how the words that drop out of my mouth onto the page read to fresh eyes.
