Thought it would be good if people posted sources for art. Just post the link and a brief description of what art you can get there.

Posters / Season Banners

New Video Mostly history and drama and generally all high res press material. Especially good for The History Channel
Movie Goods Good for season banners, probably too small for posters.
Amazon If you have Firefox This is a great add-on for grabbing the high res / zoomed images.
DVD Active Good for season banners, all high quality and thankfully a good search. Not all are perfect but a good source none the less.

Fanart/Backdrops

Discovery Channels - All the discovery channel networks, all high res and well worth a search.
Google Images An obvious one but worth putting down and noting that people should select the size greater than 1024x768
deviantART A good place to search for all types of images. Check the licence and get permission from the artist if you can.
thecustardtv Mostly UK Tv Shows but mostly high res and good source of promo shots

Banners

fanart.tv ClearART, TV Thumbs and Season Thumbs as well as ClearLOGOs for 1000s of shows collected by Kode, great place to start when creating a banner or poster.
Brands of The WorldGood for company logos and all high quality vectors.

Other

A general trick rather than a source for getting images from a website. It's the trick I use most often in creating fanart as it allows you to get to individual elements and non resized images.

Firefox:
Right click on the page anywhere and View Page Info.
Click on the Media tab and you can scroll through images and save as.. the ones you want.

Chrome:
Right click anywhere on a page Inspect Element.
Click on the Resources tab and then scroll to images in the left hand column.
Clicking on the URL should then take you to the full sized image.

Just a start, I'll keep updating this and maybe break it down into more categories.

Spent way too much time stitching images together manually, was so glad when I found it.

There is a Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/extensions/de ... kekf?hl=en
Doesn't work quite as well though as you have to manually get the (old style) product image page first. I could explain if anyone asks.

Will add more sources today, am sure I saved a list somewhere

I'm usually using Opera, but Firefox is just fine for that. I already made good use of it.

Hey furby, the LockStockMods site has moved to its own domain, http://fanart.tv/ and there's now ClearART, TV Thumbs and Season Thumbs as well as ClearLOGOs

For a TV show that does not have any actors, i.e. travel documentaries like Aerial America, can a full screen capture (1920x1080) of the actual show be used for fan art (series and episode)?

Ok, good. I can populate some fanart into some shows I have then. Does it matter that the channel bug/logo is there? Channels like Smithsonian Channel run their logo for the entire program, so getting a screen grab without it is impossible.

Use photoshop/gimp and healing brush that pesky logo out! One of the greatest tools for episode images and everything.

Network ID's are bad enough on episode thumbs but there are lots of shows with fan art showing network logos and even content rating indicators.
