I suggest searching without punctuation characters, e.g.:

The original series 'Upstairs, Downstairs' is held with a comma, the remake from 2010 without. Searching for 'upstairs downstairs' only the remake is found.

I'm pretty sure searching on the new site will be a lot fuzzier.

When I try to do a search for CSI NY on the site, it comes up with no Series found, but the CSI: NY it comes up with the correct information. This is just a request to fix the search so that CSI NY with no ':' works. This will fix a lot of 'Scraper' issues within software products such as XMDB.

Thanks,

Yes please, punctuation is not good in file names and as we move to using theTVDB.com as the source for all things TV related this is necessary for searching with Scraper software such as what is used for XBMC.

Thanks for merging the thread. My apologies for cross posting. I wasn't sure how to delete a thread once I created it ;)

Thanks,

Is the show called "CSI NY" or "CSI: NY"? Why would we use fake names for series?

I use XBMC, I can add those series just fine.

Since our current API cannot look at aliases, currently you have a couple work arounds....neither of which have a bearing on how the series is entered here.
1) First most "scraper" programs allow entry of information to locate series details using an ".NFO" file.
2) You can rename your programs using an escape sequence in the name for punctuation characters. IE CSI%3ANY will ALWAYS find the correct info.
This show's name is correctly entered here: CSI:NY as seen here: http://www.cbs.com/shows/csi_ny/
