The data center that we are hosted in is doing a large number of upgrades on the weekend of 9/10-9/11. I don't have an outage schedule yet, but I am guessing there will be multiple outages ranging from 2-4 hours here and there over the course of that weekend. I would complain, but the hosting isn't costing anyone anything so it is what it is.

Once we get more info next week I will post an update.

Thanks,

Ok... so here is what I do know:

Saturday at 8:15am PST the site will go offline. It should be back online by noon, but at the latest 4pm. After that there will be another outage sometime over the weekend as we transfer off of one storage solution and move to another. I will try to give an update for the second outage when I know the timing.

This is the last post I will make, so tomorrow morning please don't keep posting.. "is it up yet". It will be up when you can hit the site.

Thanks,

Whenever you hear "data center is doing a large number of upgrades" with a time frame of a few hours, it's always best to translate that in your mind to "it's gonna be down for a few days". If it's not down that long, it's a pleasant surprise. But data center upgrades and storage migrations are always a headache and the chances of something going wrong are much higher than them going right..

Should be important to know that since he shut down the website manually, then he most likely needs to boot it manually when the DC is done with their updates.

Uh, yeah, I know... That is why when I go into a site and am planning on taking down a whole network (for example) I tend to under promise and over deliver. :) Not a problem I figure it will be monday or so since they may have issues they didnt account for.
