*Note 1 -- The This Old House webpage for the current TVDb season 5 appears to have a typo on it. It shows this season as season 1, despite the fact that the season before it is noted as season 3 and the season after it is season 4. That page is here: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/tv/hous ... 81,00.html I definitely would *not* name this season 1 based on that webpage, it clearly looks like some kind of typo because the numbering does not reset afterwards.

*Note 2 -- the rest of the history requires subtracting 2 from each of the season numbers all the way up until TVDb season 33 becoming season 31. Other sources. This appears to be an repeat request that was denied because TVRage is consistent with the TVDb (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8338), for that reason I'd like to point out that, in addition to the show's home page following this numbering:

(1) IMDB also agrees with this numbering, at least for the seasons and episodes it tracks. For example, the latest season (Bedford House) is Season 31 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078701/episodes?season=31)
(2) This Old House lists episode numbers at the end of the credits on each episode and the "new" numbering I am proposing corresponds with the numbering displayed on the credits. You can also confirm episode numbers this way, for example Barrington Episode #16, currently listed in the TVDb as S33E26 is available online (legally) here: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/tv/vide ... 53,00.html -- if you watch the credits, you will see the episode numbered as S31E26. I've checked many of these episode numbers all the way back to season 24 and found they all match the numbering system I'm proposing.
(3) Scene number is also consistent with this approach.

TL;DR -- Current seasons 1 and 2 need to be combined into a new season 1. Current season 3 needs to be made into season 2. Current seasons 4 and 5 need to be combined into a new season 3. Seasons 6-33 need to be moved into seasons two lower (S4 - S31).

Thanks for taking the time to post, however, all our info seems to match that on the This Old House website.

Season 1 to 7 are the same so I don't see the need to change them. The final seasons are a bit unclear as they stopped marking the seasons but I think you can deduce it.
The last season description is from The Weston House showing Season 30.
The Newton Project says so New Season (31),
The Roxbury House so still 31
Auburndale House So Season 32
Los Angles Project (32)

And so on.
Possibly you're looking at the production codes/episode numbers but as with lots of shows these don't necessarily have a bearing on the Season.

Oh, I see, the production codes and the season numbers don't match. Yes, I was looking at the production numbers. It seems really strange that they wouldn't match. Good enough.

Happens all the time, and always causes confusion. Production numbers are just for book keeping for the studios, nothing more.
