I thought I would introduce myself... I've used software like XBMC and plugins for WMC that used thetvdb.com for a while. I figured since I have really gotten into programming for windows phone, that I would try out an app for Windows 8. There have been a lot of grumblings about the UI, but I'm starting to realize the advantages it brings... namely Metro would make an excellent TV PC interface. If you've played with the release candidate you've probably noticed the Video app and how terrible it is at displaying your own files. It's designed for streaming from pay sources...
So, I've been writing an app that will take your video folder and parse the tv series folder names along with the episodes within each folder and present it much like XBMC would do. Except I'm trying to take into account smaller touch screens AND larger TVs where people would use a cursor key remote.
Layout needs work, interface isn't quite there yet, but I think the logic involved in getting info from thetvdb is good (so far). In any case, the API is extremely simple... so thanks for that.
