Coco and I were discussing them earlier. I think we're both going to buy one as soon as the vendor websites recover. :)

Basically turned into a dDos on Farnell and RS which is good news generally, but does mean they sold out very quickly (http://www.osnews.com/story/25661/Raspberry_Pi_launch_turns_into_frenzy). Will probably get one to play with when they get them back in stock, am tempted to see how well it actually handles XMBC as well http://hackaday.com/2012/01/24/raspberry-pi-runs-xbmc-reliably-decodes-1080p/

I actually got into fernell to order one last night but ended up not doing it. They were charging 45$ instead of the listed 35$ and they also weren't going to start shipments for another month plus it wouldn't tell me what shipping would be except that it was going to be added later after they processed my payment. From what I'm hearing from other people it's likely going to cost just a bit less than $100 to get one if you managed to get in on the original shipment.

I'm in Canada, I've heard getting it shipped to the US is about the same hassle though. If you're in Europe it's most likely a little easier. Either way I decided to wait and let them sort it all out and try and order again in a couple months when hopefully they've got a better distribution system set up.

Edit: It looks like you can order from Newark if you're in Canada or the US.
Canada: http://canada.newark.com/jsp/search/pro ... KU=83T1943
US: http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/produc ... KU=83T1943 or 800-463-9275

They claim they won't be shipping till March 30th though. Although they don't seem to be screwing you around on the price.

$20 handling fee from Newark to US customers. I think I'm going to hold off until they get a US distributor, which should allow them to ship them without additional fees beyond the actual shipping cost.

The comments on that page claim if you order over the phone there is no $20 fee. Don't know if it's true though as I used the Canada one and they aren't charging Canadians the 20 dollar fee, just a markup of $2.84 for no reason, but hey it's still way better than trying to order it from europe.

I can say I've never made a phone order for anything. What is this? The 90s? I think it'll be a very long time before I get one I imagine shipping costs to New Zealand will be horrendous unless they get a NZ distributor (unlikely), even if there is an Australian one it'll be pricey.

Had similar problems in Australia trying to order one. The one person I saw who got one also did it by calling up.
Never occurred to me to use the phone.

I'm going to wait till they allow batch orders (a month or so) and do a group order at work to save on shipping.
