so far, my favorite shows that debuted in the fall have gotten full season contracts, and one even got nominated for an award. My 2 favorite newbies are last man standing, and New Girl. also, I hope that CBS renews Rob beyond 8 episodes, as it is a great comedy that would fit in perfectly next season. what do you guys think?

Absolutely love New Girl and Suburgatory. My wife and I can't get enough of either one. The wife also really likes Jane By Design. Not really brand new shows right now, but The Voice is my favorite reality singing show by far and I love Gold Rush Alaska.

Haven't seen Rob or Last Man Standing yet... will have to check them out. :)

I do not recommend Rob (although I only tried one episode). I loved New Girl and Suburgatory though which suprised me because they didn't seem interesting but I'm glad I gave them a shot.

The New Girl I was interested in (Zooey) but read a bunch of reviews pretty much slating it. Apparently once Lizzy Caplan (from Party Down) joined it has bumped it up a notch. Would you agree then? Might pick that up.
I'm pretty engrossed in Luck at the moment, it's very dense and wordy and the characters are pretty much all mysteries so far. Great theme tune as well, love Massive Attack.

Of 'new' shows I'm liking Alcatraz at present but worried it may take a really odd/weird twist rather than a decent sc-fi type one.
It's already finished it's first season as it seems to be 6months out of step with most other shows but I'm a big fan of Franklin & Bash as well.

Person of Interest is getting good, its taken a quite a few episodes but its finally showing some promise. I'm like that the sentient machine is keeping an eye on the main characters efforts to unravel it all, how his assets are in the dark about each other and how the initial dirty cop wants to turn good but can't as he is more useful as an insider.

The River. This show is better than I expected and despite the 'found footage' style it has some nice mysteries. Kind of reminds me of Lost with them looking for 'the source' but with a much faster story progression. Its just a shame that they solve each problem every week, they need to kill a few characters off to add a bit more of a sense of danger.

Alcatraz is also good. Again a nice mystery which seems to be unraveling at a decent pace.

Ringer. I am surprised that I like this show. I'm not usually into this sort of stuff but the ongoing storyline has won me over. I'm sick of shows that reset at the end of the episode and do the same thing the following week and this is the polar opposite.

Touch was brilliant. Annoyed at the massive delay for the rest of the season though. Why on earth they do this boggles the mind, surely 50% of the audience is going to forget about it by the time the season starts?!?

These are my picks for the new shows this season. If there are any other good science fiction or mystery shows or just shows that have a good solid ongoing storyline that doesn't reset each week then chirp up cos I wanna watch those too! Cheers.
