What in the world is going on with the Dragon Ball series?

My understanding is that there are 6 seasons containing 153 episodes. There are also 4 or 6 specials, depending on how you count them.

Our listing has 9 seasons. Reviewing it, the entries look correct up until the end of season 6. Then, s07e01 is actually a repeat of s04e06 and it continues on repeating from there. I am pretty sure that seasons 7 through 9 can just be deleted.

Any comments or objections?

I guess no one has any other ideas. I'd go ahead and delete them.

Huge fan of Dragon Ball. Looking through the episodes and comparing them to Wikipedia and other sources (like the video itself) and noticed that the episode naming is taken from what the US re-dubbed them as and not the translated name from Japanese to English. For example, Absolute Episode 136 dubbed "Tien Shinhan vs Mercenary Tao" is actually called "Revenge of Tao Pai Pai the Assassin", well from a translated point of view.

What are the admins opinion on this? Should they be named what is dubbed here (in the US), or can we be hard-core and name them their translated name ... aka the original Japanese title but in English?

Oh and yes I am aware that Wikiepdia is using the US dubbed names and not translated.

Any thoughts, questions, comments, concerns, queries, etc. ?

The US dubbed name is really more official the fan translations. It's very common that when shows get translated from other languages the episode names aren't direct translations. Quite often the translated names are completely diffrent, so I don't really see how it's any diffrent with Dragon Ball. We'd go with the official english names. The official japanese names could of course go into the japanese fields though.

Okay then, here is my request ...

1. Make a copy of Dragon Ball (the English one) and name it Dragon Ball (Japan or Japanese) but under the language of English. I will go in it and rename all the Titles to their Japanese to English translated titles.
2. Rename Dragon ball Z (Japanese) to Dragon Ball Z (Japanese) ... the B is not capitalized.
3. Rename Dragonball to Dragon Ball ... there should be a space in between the two words
4. Rename Dragonball Z to Dragon Ball Z ... there should be spaces between each word and the Z

The ones with the (Japanese) tags will be deleted not added. We don't do duplicates, it makes everything messy and hard to manage and confuses everyone except the hard core fans. Transalated shows are very commonly diffrent, to allow a duplicate for Dragon Ball would mean we'd have to allow duplicates for almost every other show that's ever been translated which would just make the site a huge mess and ruin the multi language part of the site.

The list of seasons/episodes is a little confusing because of multiple sources of information. According to Wikipedia and epguides.com, this is what I got from them:
  • Aired Episodes-wise there are only four seasons (I am using the breaks, date-wise, to determine seasons):
    • First Season being Episodes 1-28 (August 20, 2001 - September 26, 2001)
    • Second Season being Episodes 29-53 (February 11, 2002 - March 15, 2002)
    • Third Season being Episodes 54-101 (October 21, 2002 - December 31, 2002)
    • Fourth Season being Episodes 102-153 (September 1, 2003 - December 1, 2003)
BUT, the weird thing is Wikipedia and epguides.com splits Season Four into a modified Season Four and newly created Season Five
      • Fourth Season being Episodes 102-122 (September 1, 2003 - October 6, 2003)
      • Fifth Season being Episodes 123-153 (October 7, 2003 - December 1, 2003)
TheTVDB Dragon Ball shows nine seasons, which I believe is whomever confusing sagas with seasons and/or vice-versa. I would like them changed to the appropriate season numbers and episodes be in the correct seasons. Either four seasons or five seasons, but even the number of seasons needs to be determined by an admin here because you could argue the fact seasons are characterized by the breaks, date-wise, or they are determined by them just saying it. I already looked at the official list of Dragon Ball episodes, but they are all broken up into sagas and not categorized by seasons. I don't mind doing the work, but I have limited powa.

Any thoughts?

The Problem with the Dragon Ball series is still present .

Looking at the order of episodes at IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280249/episodes

And at the Japanese episodes at TV Rage http://www.tvrage.com/DragonBall/episode_list/all

It seems that The TVDB has a few too many . http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=76666&lid=7

Could someone please either fix it or let me know how to do it .

Thanks

I made a start on this , but it's a lot bigger then I thought .

I copied all of season 2 into season 1 making season 1 28 episodes .

But when I went to change season 2 and 3 I noticed that season 3 is way too big .

Could some one please let me know if I can/ how I can delete the extra episodes in season 3 onwards

Also how can I migrate the artwrok from season 2 into season 1 ? ( and the rest )

I am trying to match the episode list found at IMBD http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280249/episodes

Any help with this would be great .

I would like this seires to be fixed but as I am unable to delete episodes that are (IMO) wrong , I will try to make a new Dragon Ball seires .

I am aware that I face the probablility of it being deleted, but as I have no other way of resolving this problem I'll give it a go none the less.

If anyone has any ideas or advice please let me know .

I plan on using all the information from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280249/episodes .

thanks .
